eBay Leaves ALEC!
By Holly Testa, Director, Shareowner Engagement
Our leadership blog last week featured a post about the many companies that are leaving (and not leaving!) the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
First Affirmative, along with many other stakeholders, expressed their concerns to eBay about the company’s continued support of this controversial organization. We encouraged eBay to join the “high-tech” defection from ALEC that includes Google, Facebook, Amazon, Yahoo, and Microsoft.
We are very pleased to report that eBay has announced that it will not be renewing its relationship with ALEC in 2015. We congratulate company leadership on this decision!
EBay has taken many positive steps toward a more sustainable economy, to include signing the Climate Declaration, supporting renewable energy initiatives in Utah, and striving to reduce the impacts of its own operations. Sound the APPLAUSE!
